Personalized Piano Lessons
Ms. Soyoung believes that great teaching begins with knowledge and meaningful relationships. She creates a warm, encouraging environment where students feel supported and inspired to grow.
She emphasizes healthy piano technique and efficient movement. Her teaching focuses on proper hand ergonomics to reduce tension and prevent injury. As students advance, she helps them master challenging repertoire with confidence, clarity, and a beautiful singing tone.
With more than 10 years of teaching experience, Ms. Soyoung teaches students of all ages and abilities. She develops personalized lesson plans that match each student’s goals, learning style, and musical interests.
Arizona Study Program & Piano Competitions
Ms. Soyoung encourages students to participate in the Arizona Study Program (AZ Study Program) at Arizona State University. She also prepares students for local and statewide piano competitions. Through careful instruction and consistent encouragement, she helps students build confidence and perform at their highest level.
Education & Musical Background
Originally from South Korea, Ms. Soyoung began studying piano at the age of five. She attended Peniel Art Middle School and Busan Art High School before earning her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Dong-A University in Busan.
She later earned a Master of Music from Lee University. There, she studied with Dr. Jonathan (Joong Han) Jung on a full scholarship.
Performance & Awards
Ms. Soyoung has earned numerous honors as a pianist. She won the Grand Prize at the 31st National Students Music Competition. She also received the Gold Prize at the 15th Busan Duo Music Competition.
In addition, she won the Lee University Concerto Competition in both 2019 and 2020. She performed as a concerto soloist with the Lee University Orchestra under the direction of Robert Bernhardt.
In 2021, Ms. Soyoung was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society. This honor recognizes excellence in both music performance and academics.

At Music Maker Workshops in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Arizona, Ms. Soyoung helps students develop outstanding technique, expressive artistry, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Whether students are preparing for recitals, competitions, the Arizona Study Program, or simply learning for enjoyment, she provides the guidance, encouragement, and expertise needed to help every student succeed.
