Structured Piano Instruction with a Strong Musical Foundation
Ms. Qi is a dedicated piano instructor and AZ Study Program Instructor with a strong classical foundation and a structured approach to music education. She began studying piano at the age of five and received extensive classical training from an early age. During her school years, she earned recognition in numerous local piano competitions.
Ms. Qi believes that strong technique, consistent practice, and musical understanding are the foundation of successful piano learning. She sets high expectations for her students and encourages them to develop the discipline needed to make steady progress. Students are expected to practice regularly at home, prepare assignments carefully, and take an active role in their musical growth.
Through clear instruction and thoughtful guidance, Ms. Qi helps students build confidence, develop strong habits, and work toward meaningful performance goals.
Education and Musical Experience
Ms. Qi earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Piano from Nanjing University of the Arts. During her studies, she was also a member of the university choir, expanding her experience as both a performer and ensemble musician.
She later continued her education at Arizona State University, earning her Master’s degree in Music Education under the guidance of Dr. Sandra Stauffer.
While studying at ASU, Ms. Qi explored a wide range of musical areas, including jazz, African drum ensemble, and music production. These experiences expanded her musical knowledge and strengthened her ability to bring different perspectives into her piano instruction.
Piano Lessons for Older Elementary Students and Teens
Since 2008, Ms. Qi has provided private piano lessons for students of various ages and experience levels. She especially enjoys working with older elementary students and teenagers, helping them develop independence, strong practice habits, and the skills needed to become confident musicians.
As an AZ Study Program Instructor, Ms. Qi prepares students for evaluations by developing strong technique, music theory knowledge, sight-reading skills, and performance ability. She carefully guides students through each level while helping them understand the expectations needed for continued musical growth.
