Kim Steedman
Co-Director of Studio Operations
As the daughter of Music Maker Workshops founder, Beverly Bigam, Kim has been part of the studio’s journey from the beginning.
Twenty-three years ago, she decided to leave her nursing career and join the family business. Her goal was to help develop the studio’s early childhood music programs.
She began by teaching Kindermusik® and other early childhood music classes. Through these programs, she inspired young children and their families with engaging, play-based musical experiences.
From the very beginning, Kim believed that music should be joyful, encouraging, and accessible. As a result, she helped build a strong foundation for Music Maker Workshops’ early childhood programming.
Studio Leadership
Today, Kim serves as Co-Director of Studio Operations, working alongside her sister, Shelley Yakubow, to oversee the daily operations of Music Maker Workshops.
She enjoys serving as a liaison between teachers, parents, students, and administrative staff. Because of her collaborative approach, communication remains strong throughout the studio.
In addition, Kim works closely with families to ensure they receive outstanding service and support. She also mentors staff and helps create a welcoming environment where students can thrive.
On Mondays, you will often find Kim at the front desk. There, she enjoys greeting families, answering questions, and helping the studio run smoothly.
Community Leadership
Beyond the studio, Kim is passionate about serving the Ahwatukee community. She enjoys organizing community events and developing partnerships with local organizations.
Likewise, she believes that strong community relationships help create more opportunities for students and families.
Kim proudly served for three years on the Board of Directors for the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce. During her service, she supported local initiatives, strengthened business relationships, and promoted the continued growth of the Ahwatukee community.
Education
Kim earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta.
Before joining Music Maker Workshops full-time, she enjoyed a successful career as a registered nurse. That experience strengthened her communication, organization, and leadership skills. Today, she continues to use those skills to support students, families, faculty, and staff.
