Master Drum Instructor
David “Creamy” brings over 15 years of drumming and percussion experience and has been teaching students for the past decade. He emphasizes the importance of playing with control, including mastering volume dynamics, to create a polished and professional sound.
David began his musical journey with the alto saxophone at age 10 and played through college. However, his passion for drums led him to pick up the instrument at 16. He honed his skills as part of the all-state band and the marching band at Dobson High School, where his experience strengthened his technique and mastery of rudiments. He also studied under renowned percussionist Bruce Weitz.
In college, David expanded his musical knowledge by studying percussion, earning an Associate’s degree in Audio Engineering, and delving into music business. He has extensive experience playing and recording across various musical styles, which he brings into his teaching.
David teaches students from beginners to advanced levels, covering essential skills such as rudiments, hand and foot technique, timing, four-way independence, tuning, solo and improvisation techniques, and reading music and charts. He is known for his patient teaching style and dedication to helping students achieve their goals.
David has been part of the Music Maker Workshops family since fall 2015, sharing his expertise and passion for drumming with students of all ages.
