Meet Jacob
Jacob is a professional performing musician and educator with over 15 years of experience teaching and performing throughout the Valley. He works with students of all ages from young beginners to adult learners and brings real world performing experience into every lesson.
Teaching Philosophy
Jacob is known for his positive, encouraging teaching style. He believes every student is capable of success and focuses on building on each student’s strengths while helping them develop new skills. His goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel confident, motivated, and excited to learn.
Making Music Easy to Understand
One of Jacob’s greatest strengths is breaking down complex musical concepts into simple, manageable steps. Whether a student is learning their first notes or refining advanced techniques, Jacob tailors each lesson to fit the student’s learning style, goals, and pace.
Professional Experience
As an active gigging musician, Jacob brings current music and technology into the classroom. His work as a performer helps students develop practical skills, musical confidence, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a well-rounded musician.
Education & Credentials
Jacob earned his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance from Arizona State University in 2011. During his time at ASU, he performed with jazz legend Benny Golson and won first place in the university’s inaugural Jazz Composition Competition. Today, he continues to perform professionally while sharing his passion for music with students across the Valley.
