Dr. Kuo organizes our MMW Annual Piano Competition each year. She also prepares students for local and statewide piano competitions. Through careful planning and consistent instruction, her students regularly earn superior ratings and top placements. Consequently, many of her students rank among Arizona’s highest-achieving young pianists.
Education and Professional Experience
Dr. Kuo earned her Doctorate in Music Composition from Texas Tech University. She specializes in piano performance, music theory, composition, music analysis, and creative musicianship. Furthermore, she teaches students of all ages, from beginners to advanced pianists.
She also integrates professional music technology into her lessons. Students learn with programs such as Logic Pro, Audacity, Reason, Finale, and other industry-standard software. These tools strengthen creativity, composition, and overall musical understanding.
Dr. Kuo began studying piano at the age of five. Later, she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Composition, with a minor in Piano Performance, from Tainan University of Technology in Taiwan.
Award-Winning Composer
In addition to teaching, Dr. Kuo is an accomplished composer. The International Society for Contemporary Music selected her composition Rowing with Straggling Hair for performance at major universities throughout Taiwan.
Her composition Review earned honors at the International Workshop on Computer Music Audio Technology. Likewise, her works Wave and Rowing with Straggling Hair received recognition in Taiwan’s Literary and Artistic Creation Awards.
Piano Lessons at Music Maker Workshops
At Music Maker Workshops in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Kuo prepares students for Arizona Study Program evaluations, piano competitions, music theory exams, recitals, and auditions. At the same time, she encourages creativity, discipline, and artistic confidence.
