Mikey K.

Piano Instructor

Mr. Mikey is a fun, and relaxed music instructor. He brings creativity, experience, and positive energy to every lesson. Popular music, technology, and real-world performance experiences help keep his students engaged and excited about learning.

Mikey believes students learn best when they connect with music they enjoy. He encourages students to explore different genres, discover their own musical style, and develop confidence through creativity and performance.

He incorporates technology into his lessons as a way to enhance musical understanding and creativity. Students use modern tools to reinforce important concepts such as music theory, rhythm, note-reading, and composition. Mikey also teaches synthesizer, keyboarding, music production, and DJing, giving students opportunities to explore the many ways technology can be used to create and perform music.

By combining traditional instruction with modern music technology, Mikey helps students develop a well-rounded understanding of music. These skills allow students to experiment with sounds, create original ideas, and connect their learning to real-world musical experiences.

Mikey also teaches at the Music Maker Workshops summer camp each year, sharing his passion for music through engaging activities and hands-on learning experiences.

Professional Performance Experience

Mikey began piano lessons at a young age and developed his skills by playing keyboards in youth groups and bands throughout the Valley. His experience as a performer gives him a unique perspective that he brings into his teaching.

Over the years, Mikey has performed and traveled with recording artists including Josh Groban, William Joseph, Lucia Micarelli, and local artist Rebecca McGown. In summer 2012, he joined Rebecca McGown on the “Camplified Tour,” a tour created in partnership with Cartoon Network.
