Piano Instructor


Ms. Qi began learning the piano and received classical training from the age of 5. During her school years, she won numerous local piano competitions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis on piano from Nanjing University of the Arts, where she was also a member of the university choir. She later pursued her musical education at Arizona State University and obtained her Master’s degree in Music Education under the guidance of Dr. Sandra Stauffer. Her studies at ASU included lessons in jazz music, African drum ensemble, and music production, which not only broadened her musical repertoire but also enriched her piano teaching lessons. Since 2008, she has been offering private piano lessons. She has a diverse taste in music genres, including classical, popular, jazz, blues, gospel music, film/animation/games background music, fusion music, and world music, among others. Her teaching style is classically focused, with an emphasis on piano techniques, piano performance, theory, and music appreciation. She also integrates various music styles into her teaching, incorporating piano adaptations of film and song music. She employs various methods to ensure her piano lessons are engaging and rewarding. Beyond music, she enjoys art and nature. She is bilingual in both English and Mandarin.
