Cindy – Piano, Ukulele, Guitar Instructor | Songwriter | Faculty Coordinator
Cindy is the Faculty Coordinator and a dedicated music instructor, songwriter, and performing artist at Music Maker Workshops. In her role as Faculty Coordinator, she supports the studio’s teaching team and helps foster a collaborative, creative learning environment for both students and instructors.
Cindy provides student-directed music lessons that are individualized, welcoming, and designed to help each student discover their own creative voice. She believes every student has unique musical potential and deserves the opportunity to explore, create, and grow.
A Holistic Approach to Developing Musicianship
Cindy takes a holistic approach to developing musicianship, helping students grow not only as instrumentalists but also as creative, confident, and expressive musicians. She believes music education is about more than learning notes and technique—it is about developing listening skills, self-expression, curiosity, and a meaningful connection with music.
Her classroom is a safe and supportive space where students can explore ideas, build musical skills, and discover their own internal motivation for playing music. Through personalized guidance and encouragement, Cindy helps students develop both their abilities and their unique musical identity.
Developing Musicians Through Creativity and Expression
Cindy’s teaching approach encourages students to explore music through curiosity, creativity, and self-expression. She helps students develop musical skills while discovering the joy and personal connection that music can bring.
As an introspective songwriter and musician, Cindy brings her own experience as a performing artist into her lessons. Her original music combines creative acoustic guitar harmonies, authentically inspired vocal melodies, poetic lyric imagery, and engaging grooves. Through her artistry, she explores themes of mindfulness, self-awareness, transformation, compassion, and social connection.
Education and Certifications
Cindy has completed a Specialist Certification in Voice and Musicianship and Master Certifications in Music Theory Harmony and Ear Training, and Songwriting through Berklee College of Music. She is also a certified Kindermusik music educator and a member of The Children’s Music Network.
Cindy received the Glenn Ballard Scholarship from Berklee College of Music to complete her Master Certification in Songwriting. She has also participated in professional songwriting communities, including the Durango Songwriters Expo, Nashville Songwriters Association International, and Arizona Songwriters Association events.
Performing Artist and Community Music Advocate
Cindy has performed her original music throughout Arizona in a variety of settings, including festivals, community events, historic venues, and arts organizations. Her performances include appearances with the C-12 Arts Collective, Shemer Center Exhibit with CASA of Arizona, Arizona State Fair, Arizona Songwriters Association Annual Gatherings, Prescott Folk Music Festival, Sharlot Hall Museum Holiday events, Glendale Folk & Heritage Festival, and Flagstaff Folk Festival.
Since 2016, Cindy has been a creator and performing artist with Musicians On Call, a national organization that brings live music to patients and their families in healthcare settings. Through this work, she shares the healing and transformative power of music with diverse audiences.
Cindy also contributes to the local music community through Girls Rock-Phoenix, where she teaches songwriting workshops and coaches developing young female musicians. She has presented at the ASU TRIO Upward Bound Program Summer Arts & Culture Symposium and has received recognition through Arizona Commission on the Arts grants, including a Teaching Artist Opportunity Grant and a Professional Development Grant.
A Caring and Inspiring Music Leader
Cindy lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband and two daughters. Her experiences as a Faculty Coordinator, educator, performer, songwriter, and community artist shape the way she connects with students and supports the Music Maker Workshops community.
Whether students are beginning their musical journey or developing their creative skills, Cindy provides encouragement, guidance, and inspiration. She helps students discover their unique musical expression while building confidence and a lifelong love of music.
