DRUM KIT, PERCUSSION, & MARIMBA IN AHWATUKEE

Playing drums is fun!  Playing drums, even for just a few minutes can boost your mood. Nothing is better than playing the drums to relieve stress or frustration. It builds coordination and strengthens memory since the drum language is known to be complex.  It can also open the doors for many unique experiences, such as travel and performing music in a variety of venues.

Students can learn everything from jazz, rock, metal, funk, blues, military street beats too much more.  We have many drum students of all ages.  Many have the opportunity to practice their craft with the Desert Sound Drum Corps and with the MMW Rock Bands.

Frequently Asked Questions about Drum Lessons:

Who Will Teach Me?

We have five drum teachers with university or professional performance experience. Our teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal music goals and helping you achieve them. During registration, we'll give you options based on your needs and availability. We are confident that we have the right teacher to meet your music lesson needs. Our teachers work collaboratively together to share their ideas and strengths. They have warm personalities, are friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn in your lesson.

What will I learn?

Our drum teachers will teach rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues, and many other styles. Teachers will provide a variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort.

Do I Need Drums at Home to take Lessons?

No, beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks for about $50.00. Students use our drum set at lessons and do not have to bring anything except their sticks and notebook. Also, on Sundays, students are welcome to sign up to use a drum room to practice.

Do I Need to Purchase Music?

Yes, you will need to purchase music. For your convenience, books and sheet music selected with your teacher will be on your MMW monthly account.

When do you offer Lessons?

We are the only music school in Ahwatukee that offers lessons seven days a week. So we have many options. You'll receive a specific time with your teacher. Please choose a time you know you'll be able to attend each week.

Do you have Contracts?

The school does not require semester minimums for lessons. Every student here is on a month-to-month basis. We do ask for a 30-day notice if you'd like to discontinue lessons.

Where Do I Wait with My Other Kids?

There is a spacious waiting area with comfortable chairs, chess, games, Wi-Fi, magazines, snacks, and a beverage center all available for your convenience. Each studio has a glass door, so it's easy to view into the classrooms at any time.

Will There Be Performance Opportunities?

Absolutely! Every parent wants to know how their child is doing and if they are progressing. The best way to get the most of your investment in lessons is with participation in a recital, showcase, or gig. We have biannual recitals held at Esperanza Church. We have a variety of opportunities for students to perform at coffeehouses, restaurants, festivals, and even parades.

How much do Recitals Cost?

Our biannual recitals at Esperanza Church cost $30.00 per performer and are free for friends and family to attend.

Do you have Ensembles for drummers?

We have opportunities for drum students to play with the Desert Sound Drum Corps, the MMW Jazz, and Rock Bands too! Meet other musicians because this is the fun part of music-making!
